FOR THE LOVE OF ARMINE

This is the most recent of the published books and doubtless the most complex of the lot. The book was born out of a deep love and regard for Armenia and its people. The two parts of the book center around Armine (after whom the novel itself is named), a daughter of the Armenian diaspora, and Kuriakose (a young man from Kerala, India). Interlaced with the story of their love, the book recounts glimpses of the history of the Armenian people, the diaspora, and, most of all, the terrible genocide committed by the Ottoman Turks at the turn of the last century.

Anna Ayvazyan, a dear friend of many years, took on the task of translating this book into Russian and Armenian. Without her generosity, which I cannot repay, these language versions would not have seen the light of day. The stunning cover design is by another dear friend, Artur Hakobyan, of Yerevan.

This is also the first time that Russian and Armenian versions of this novel are made available to readers in e-book formats, as the policy of the big online distributors prevent them from doing so. This was another reason that prompted me to embark on this venture.

To buy an e-book edition of this book, please select the format of your choice, and click the ‘Purchase‘ button. For assistance with choosing a format, please go to the ‘Which Format?’ tab.

Reviews/Events

Thanks to the initiative taken by Suren Maghakyan, Founder and CEO of Full Life NGO, a book presentation was held at Yerevan on October 26, 2015, which was covered by Armenian newspapers and TV. It was a great experience to answer questions about the book for an hour and a half.

The Armenian National Committee of America (ANCA) in collaboration with the St. Illuminator’s Cathedral, New York, organized a grand book signing event at the Armenian Center, New York, on November 06, 2015, which was graced by His Grace Anoushavan Bishop Tanielian with Ambassador Zohrab Mnatsakanyan as the special guest.

I am grateful to Der Mesrob Lakissian of St. Illuminator’s Cathedral and Artur Martirosyan, Direcotr of ANCA (ably supported by fellow-director Armén Sahakyan) for making all the arrangements that made this event a big success.

A short video clip of the event and a report are posted on the ‘Events’ tab.

On that page you can also find a clip from the ITV Gold interview of  December 2015.

The back-cover blurb

An off-the-beaten track love story of a daughter of the Armenian diaspora and a young man from the southern Indian State of Kerala. Their tale, interwoven with the traumatic history of the Armenian people, explores the sustaining elements of faith and love. The story of Armine and Kuriakose (Kirakos), bridging three decades, is a celebration of the spirit of resilience and indomitable hope that overcomes the cruelest adversity.
